110th Anniversary International Exhibition of Works on Paper; JUROR and JUDGE OF AWARDS: Jeanne Dobie, AWS, NWS
In 1900, the Philadelphia Water Color Society was founded to offset the then-common exhibition prejudice against watercolor. Chartered in 1922 as a corporation, it continued its mission of "furthering watercolor art" through varied exhibitions of elected members' works.
Today, their annual exhibitions continue to represent the finest in watercolor art as well as other works on paper. Over the years these exhibitions have evolved into open and international events.
PWCS Annual Exhibitions have been generously hosted by many well-respected art organizations, including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Woodmere Art Museum and now Newman Galleries, a Philadelphia art staple since 1865.
JOIN US: There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 20, from 1:00-4:00 PM. More information is also available on the PWCS website (http://www.pwcsociety.org/). [Pictured: Jeanne Dobie, "Twilight," 2007, watercolor, 20'' x 29'']
