Like Matisse before them, Robert Mead Jones and Bonnie Beauchamp Jones began their careers as lawyers, with art as an avocation. They studied painting at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and in Santa Fe. Since retiring from the successful practice of law to pursue art full-time, they have achieved an international reputation in the art world.
Their portraits, landscapes and still lifes hang in private, corporate and museum collections in the United States, England, France and Ireland, including the National Constitution Center (Philadelphia), the Philadelphia Club, the Federal Courts, the Merion Cricket Club (Philadelphia), the Buffalo Club (New York), and the Independence Seaport Museum (Philadelphia). Portrait subjects include Governor Edward G. Rendell, John C. Bogle, Sir David Hatch (former head of BBC Radio), and members of European nobility. Having worked and studied for years in Europe, the Artists speak French and Italian fluently and return to Europe annually to paint and to meet with portrait clients and other collectors.
Paintings by the Artists have appeared in various juried art shows including The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Alumni Exhibition. Their award-winning work evidences mastery of a wide range of styles, from classical portraiture to impressionistic landscapes, and has been the focus of a number of articles.
