Conner, McCauley (Mac)
1913-

Born in 1913, in Newport, New Jersey, illustrator McCauley Conner studied at the Philadelphia Museum School with Henry Pitz and at the Grand Central School of Art in New York with Harvey Dunn.  While still in college, he sold his first cover illustration to The Saturday Evening Post.

For many years he was a partner in the art agency, Neely Associates, along with working on free-lance illustration for the Post, McCall’s, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Woman’s Day, Argosy, Woman’s Home Companion, and The Ladies’ Home Journal, among many other magazines.  He also achieved wide acclaim for a decade of illustrations for Romance Novel covers.

He is a member of the Society of Illustrators and has exhibited at the Palm Beach Galleries and the Country Art Gallery in Westbury, Long Island. He is the recipient of the Philadelphia Art Directors award of 1959.

Conner continues to live in New York and work on commercial projects as well as painting landscapes and city scenes.
