Henry Wo Yue-Kee was born in 1927 in Quangdong, China. He studied at the International Art School in Hong Kong and with professor Chao Shao-An, a famous painter of the Lingnan School.
Through manipulation of ink and watercolor on paper, Wo combines his influences from Western and Eastern traditions. His paintings create a mystical atmosphere filled with his own poetic contemplations on nature.
Since moving to the United States in 1975, Wo has continued to exhibit his paintings in Canada, the United States, Australia, and throughout the Orient, including a recent one-man exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-san Memorial Hall in the Republic of China.
His work is included in the collections of the Art Museum of Hawaii; Amherst College; William Penn Memorial Museum of Pennsylvania; Lyman Allyn Museum, Connecticut; Springfield Art Museum, Montana; Rockhill Helson Art Museum, Kansas City; Birmingham Museum of Art, and Fine Art Museum of the South at Mobile, Alabama; City of Hamilton Art Gallery, Australia; Yung Ming Shan Museum, Taiwan; Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong; and Peking University, China, among others.
