Ben Collins was born in Philadelphia in 1895. He studied art at the Museum School in Philadelphia under Benedict Osnis and William Merritt Chase.
Mr. Collins was art director for the Beck Engraving Company of Philadelphia. His paintings were exhibited at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Art Directors Clubs of Philadelphia and New York. His work was also exhibited at Newman Galleries, Philadelphia. He designed books and other publications for the National Gallery of Art and the Metropolitan Museum. He also executed portrait commissions including one for the Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia.
The artist was a member of the Art Directors Clubs of New York and Philadelphia.
Benjamin F. Collins died in Medford, New Jersey in July of 1981.
