Phillips, Elise

Elise N. Phillips was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania into a family with an extensive background in the fine arts.  A 1983 graduate of the Hussian School of Arts in Philadelphia, she is an accomplished illustrator and graphic designer with many successful commissions in the business community. With an inherent interest in painting, she enrolled in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts emerging well schooled in the tradition of the Academy.  A recipient of many awards, she has widespread recognition for her rich impressionist works in all media: oil, watercolor, and pastel.Residing in historic Chester County, a subject of many of her works, her studio overlooks the farms and meadows of the bucolic countryside.  She is a frequent visitor to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, another favorite subject for her work, as well as Martha's Vineyard, where her work may be found in the collection of the renowned Charlotte Inn in Edgartown.She was awarded top honors and poster commissions at the prestigious Devon Horse and Country Fair in 2005, as well as for the Ludwig's Corner Horse Show. In 2006, Elise was the official poster artist for the Historic Yellow Springs Annual Art Show. An award winning exhibitor, she is a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, the Artists Circle, the Wayne Art Center, the Chester Springs Studios and the Philadelphia Sketch Club.
