Osborne, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Osborne was born in Philadelphia in 1936. She studied painting at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she was awarded the Ford Foundation Purchase Prize and the Catherwood, Cresson and Schiedt Traveling Fellowships. Her other awards include the Rosenthal Foundation Award from the Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, the Fulbright Scholarship to Paris, and the MacDowell Fellowship and the Harrison Morris Prize.

Osborne has exhibited with the Peale Galleries at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the American Consulate in Brazil, the Washington Gallery of Modern Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Butler Institute, the Springfield Art Museum in Missouri, the Pennsylvania State Museum, the National Academy of Design, Squibb Gallery in Princeton, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Westmorland County Museum, the Hecksher Museum, and the Oakland Museum.

Osborne is included in many public and private collections around the world. They include the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Print Club of Philadelphia, Chase Manhattan Bank, Provident National Bank, the Westinghouse Corporation, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and the Cigna Corporation.
