English landscape painter Alfred De Breanski, Jr. was born in Lewisham, London in

1877. He was first taught by his father, the highly regarded landscape painter, Alfred De Breanski, Sr. He then studied at the St. Martin’s School of Painting under Cecil Rae. A trip to Paris offered De Breanski the opportunity of working with Whistler, from whom he gained a great deal of inspiration.

De Breanski first exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1904. He was a frequent exhibitor there for many years, showing his Scottish, Italian and English landscapes.

The artist died in 1957.
