D’Angelo was born in Santiago de Chuco, Peru in 1949. In 1969, he went to Lima to study painting in the famous School of Arts of Lima, graduating with highest honors.
Beginning with the Cuzco School of Painting in the 17th Century, Peru has traditionally been a country of figurative painters. A movement, probably started by Bamse Antunez de Mayolo in the 1970’s, broke from this tradition, and began painting their local surroundings. They were so successful that they generated a public demand for their work, which allowed them to travel and develop their talent.
D’Angelo is one of a group of these extraordinary landscape painters. He has become very popular and well known for his specialty, golfing subjects. His works have been included in exhibitions at La Casa del Cuadro in 1986, 1987, and 1989; the Park Exhibition in Lima in 1984; the Culture House of Lince in 1983, 1985, and 1988; and the Lince City Hall in 1983.
