Philadelphia artist Martin Jackson received his B.S. degree from Temple University and his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art.  While at Tyler, he studied with Maxim B. Gottlieb, Franklin Watkins, and Earl Horter.

Jackson’s painting awards include:  the Tiffany Fellowship, the Guggenheim Fellowship from 1949 to 1952, the Butler Art Institute Prize, the Wallace Truman Prize, Corcoran Gallery of Art Purchase Prize, First Hallgarten Prize from the National Academy of Design, and the Emily Lowe Award

The artist served as Director of the New Hope Fine Arts Workshop and was an instructor at the Samuel Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.  He has lectured in art centers throughout the Delaware Valley.

Jackson’s paintings may be found in the collections of: the Library of Congress; the American Academy of Arts and Letters; the Museum of Art in New Britain, Connecticut; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.
