Nicholas Mace was born in London, England in 1949. From early childhood he was fascinated by every aspect of wildlife and field sport, and over the years has developed an extensive knowledge of the countryside.
He began painting as a young boy, and by the age of fifteen, was selling his pictures in London's open-air shows. Upon graduation, Mace worked as a designer in a commercial art studio. He soon found that he couldn't reconcile his commercial work with the fine arts, and so he devoted himself entirely to painting.
Mace's reputation as an excellent contemporary British sporting painter is now secure and established. His works have been exhibited at the British Game Fair since 1972, and are avidly collected in Europe and the United States.
