William McGregor was born in Birmingham, England in 1897. He began his artistic training at the College of Art in Bristol, and eventually matriculated to London where he continued his studies.
The artist exhibited extensively at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, one of only five Royal Academies of Art in the UK, as well as the Somerset Society of Artists.
William McGregor is known to have traveled extensively throughout the British Isles. His most famous landscape paintings depict the English, Irish and Scottish Countryside with which he was so familiar.
